In the spring of 2001, Matt Dube & Nate Pritts started LAZY FROG PRESS. Both were PhD candidates at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette & both were enrolled in a class called THE ART OF THE BOOK taught by Skip Fox. Each student was required to publish a chapbook. Matt & Nate joined forces to start a press.

The first two chapbooks were HELLBENT, poems by Nate Pritts & SHORTHAND, stories by Matt Dube.

The next chapbook, Tom Dvorske’s WHAT YOU KNOW, was the inaugural & sole winner of the Taras Shevchenko Memorial Writing Prize.  Collapsing under the weight of its founders’ divergent interest in, respectively, neo-Slavic folk traditions and pirogue poetics, the press folded like a card table & has been stored out of sight until some church sale calls for it.

Remaining copies of Lazy Frog Press chapbooks are now available through the H_NGM_N website.
